8 Months

One word to describe my boy at 8 months old...busy.

This little guy is everywhere. He doesn't just crawl...he runs on all 4's. I have a feeling he is going to keep me on my toes for the next 18 years or so.

Jake, at 8 months old, you:

*are into EVERYTHING...your favorites: the computer printer, the x-box, and the living room plant. You made your momma rethink her "minimal child-proofing" philosophy. The living room plant is now out of your reach. You are starting to learn what the word "no" means.

*are very curious

*are easily distracted which sometimes means it takes you 30 minutes just to finish a bottle...it also has resulted in some interesting nursing positions (continue reading for details)

*are beginning to eat finger foods...you have a pretty strong gag reflex, but are good at eating Cheerios, puffs, and yogurt melts. You are still working on your "pincer" grasp (using thumb and forefinger), so you pick up your food by the handful.

*nurse 3 times a day and take 2 bottles of formula...though I think you are trying to tell me you are ready to be weaned. You are often easily distracted while nursing and/or too busy to settle down and nurse. Our nursing sessions are beginning to resemble wrestling matches. This morning you nursed while you were up on all 4's...crazy boy.

*love your sister. She makes you belly laugh and you want to be near her all the time. She loves it...most of the time. I have a feeling this might be a problem in the future!

*are babbling a little bit...mostly "mamama" and "dadadada."

*are usually a good sleeper. You sleep around 12 hours at night. Your morning and afternoon naps are usually 1 1/2-2 hours long. You still occasionally take a late afternoon nap if you are fussy.

You bring us such joy, Jake! You are the sweetest little guy! We love you!
