Spring Break...The Rainy Part

Spring Break is wrapping up for us. Most of it has been super rainy, so our zoo and park plans were scrapped. By day 4 of the rain, the kids were itching to play outside. There was a break in the rain, so we changed into some grubby clothes and played in the puddles.

Can't you just see the excitement on their faces?!? Yes, Jake is wearing snow boots...we don't have rain boots for him and he insisted on wearing boots like his sister, so this was the best I could do.

We had some good-sized puddles on our street.

Emptying out the boots.

Towards the end of our time outside, the kids noticed there were tons of worms in the puddles they were splashing in. So our play time turned into a rescue-the-worms mission.

Each of the kids grabbed a worm to take home with us.
Amazingly, both worms survived being transported by little hands.
The kids made the worms a "nest"
(apparently we need a lesson on where worms live)
