Summer 2013

There are so many moments from this summer that are worthy of their own post, but I've come to realize if I'm hoping to catch up on my blogging, this is the way to go.  So, here we go, an entire summer summed up in one post.

Summer 2013 was filled with lots of firsts for Owen (obviously :)).  The sweetest thing, by far, was watching Addison and Jake love on Owen.

Owen's first bath was a family affair...who knew it would take 4 people to bathe a newborn?!?

Owen wasn't so sure about all the "help."

Sleepy newborn "smiles" are the best!

Addison reading an Elephant and Piggy book to Owen...good for both of them!

Kyle cooked a fancy birthday dinner for me...we dined al fresco :)

Jake insisted on eating his apple by Owen.

Owen's first "ride" in the swing...he had a captive audience of course :)

First bottle...

Big brother's turn with the bottle.

Sweet, startled baby face...we saw this face a lot :)

We stuck pretty close to home this summer, and playing in the sprinkler was a hit.

We made a stop to pick blueberries on the way home from visiting Kyle's family. There was this sweet field of wildflowers that begged for some photos to be taken.

My partner in crime :)

We also made a quick trip to see my side of the family.  We introduced Owen to more of our sweet, crazy, enormous family.

Margo was super sweet with Owen.  She would've held him all day long.

Last Christmas, Addison started asking about getting an American Girl doll.  They are pretty pricey and we weren't convinced she was ready to take care of one.  So, we made a deal with her...if she saved half the money, we'd give her the rest.  I honestly thought she would lose interest, but I was wrong.  By the time her birthday rolled around, she had her half saved.  So, on our next visit to KC, we made a stop at the American Girl store.  It was a sweet experience.

Addison chose Kit Kittredge.  Kit's story is from the Great Depression.  After her father lost his business, they took in boarders so they wouldn't lose their house.  We've read the first book together and really enjoyed it.

We had a rainy, cooler-than-normal summer.  Which translated to a very successful garden!

Right before school started, a friend I work with gave Addison and I tickets to see the musical, Mary Poppins. It was spectacular...we loved it!

To wrap up a randowm post, a few random photos...

Our laidback baby :)

Hello blue eyes!

Jake no longer has a natural smile...this is what I get when I ask him to smile.

Summer 2013 was slow-paced and filled with sweet memories.
