Camping at Pete's Puddle

A couple of weeks ago, we joined our two best family friends for a weekend of camping at Pete's Puddle.  This year's drought had taken it's toll on the ponds at Pete's Puddle, making its name rather fitting.  In spite of that, we all had fun fishing and spending time together.

Our dinner the first night...hot dogs roasted over the campfire.

Our choices of campsites were pretty limited, but we found a nice spot by one of the ponds.  Our nets, a garage sale find the weekend before, were a big hit with the kids.  They caught toads and bugs.

Addison and Taylor

Lily had the catch of the weekend with this catfish.  It was, by far, the largest fish caught.  She used her princess pole and reeled it in all by herself :)

Several toads met their demise in this parmesan cheese container.

Jake fishing with Daddy.  Fishing didn't hold his attention for too long, but he enjoyed exploring around the pond.

Love these two!

Poor Emma ended up not feeling well, but she was such a trooper!

Saturday afternoon, we wandered into nearby Burrton, for their Fall Festival.  It is a teeny town, but they sure know how to put on a parade!
The kids each had a lunch sack filled with candy by the end of it.

The kids waiting to snag some loot!

There was more fishing that weekend.  Here Jake caught his first fish.  The funny thing is, he didn't realize it was on his line.  We tried to explain that he had caught it, but he kept insisting he didn't catch it :)  Funny guy!

More fishing...

Max and one of his catches!

Sunday morning, we celebrated Alisha's birthday.  We sent her off to the bathrooms with a troop of kids and surprised her with a birthday breakfast table when she returned.

The birthday girl with her birthday biscuits and gravy!  The flowers in her hair are a gift from her daughter, Taylor.

Before we left on Sunday, Addison caught her first fish!  She was pretty excited!
