It is March 1st and I am just now writing a 3 year old post for Jake...his birthday is January 14th. Ugh! Okay, no more beating myself up for my tardiness...on to my boy.
Jake's birthday started out with chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and ended with a 103 degree fever. Both he and his sister were sick, sick, sick that week. So, we ended up pushing his birthday party back another week to allow everyone to get well.
Jake requested a rocket ship party for his birthday. I found a cute (and easy) idea for a rocket ship cake on Pinterest. Here is my version:
Jake's party was very low-key...cake, presents, and a simple rocket decorating activity. Speaking of the rocket decorating...I need some serious help in the boy birthday party entertainment department. Decorating rocket ships....talk about girling up a boy party :)
This is Jake opening the jet-pack that Addison made for Jake for his birthday. He knew just what to do with it!

"Der Jackub I luv you and you are my vary best bruthr"
Addison's card for Jake.
This picture cracks me up and captures Jake's impulsiveness...you never know when he's going to go in for a lick. Sorry, Dad, we're working on it!

He chose the menu: Mac and Cheese, asparagus, and fruit salad.

Jacob, at 3 years old you:
-Love puzzles and reading books. The fact those activities hold your attention, give me hope that you'll be able to make it in school :)
-Are very dramatic...when you tell a story you are so expressive, your face, eyes, and tone add so much to what you are saying.
-Have a lot to say...you are constantly talking and can carry on a conversation with just about anyone. Today, you had a long conversation with the doctor about cotton balls and otoscopes.
-Are a big boy. You weigh 42 lbs. and wear 4T clothing.
-Are phasing out of taking a nap. It's kind of a forced phasing. You would nap for 2 hours, but it has started messing with your night time sleep.
Not falling asleep until 9:30 then waking up at 5:00 is not cool.
-Are so very loving, though not always gentle :) Your hugs often begin with a running start and end with a tight squeeze. You happily snuggle with anyone willing to read or watch TV with you.
You had your first experience with stitches shortly after turning 3. You were on the wrong end of an elastic exercise resistance band.
Jacob, you are a joy. I am so glad I get to be your momma! I can't wait to see what God has in store for you, little man!
