I've contemplated blogging about this, but haven't felt it was my experience to blog about. But, with my husband's permission, here's what's going on.
Kyle's mom's health has been declining the past couple of years. She has diabetes and had double bipass surgery the spring 2007. She has been in and out of the hospital since her surgery and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. A couple weeks ago (after just getting out of the hospital) she suffered a massive stroke. Initially it looked like she wasn't going to make much of a recovery...she wasn't responding to commands and didn't seem to know what was going on around her. After several days in the hospital she was moved to a nursing home. In the following days she did make improvement...she was alert, tried to talk to visitors, even laughed at her sons' antics.
Last week Di suffered another stroke. We were in Missouri at the time and didn't get the message until we were heading back home. We stopped in at the hospital on our way home so Kyle could see her. He also did a quick day trip today to check in on her.
So, pray for Dianna's health. Also pray we would be able to discern when we need to visit and that we would take every opportunity to do so.
