Easter 2011

Our Easter, this year, began 12 days before Easter. We wanted to spend some family time talking about the Easter story and what it's all about. I got the idea from HERE and HERE. Each egg had a portion of scripture and a symbol to go with it. I am continually amazed at how much Addison is able to understand a subject that so many adults struggle to grasp. Child-like faith is pretty amazing.

The Saturday before Easter was a big day. Each year our church helps put on the Easter Sun Run that benefits Youth Horizons, an organization that we believe in and support. This year, I volunteered to help out and also ran in the 2-mile race. My day started super early, but was great fun.

My friend, Rashelle, and I have been running holding each other accountable to running each week and the race culminated our hard work. We ran the whole 2-miles, which for 2 people who were non-runners just a couple months ago, is a pretty big feat. We have our sights set on a 5k in the fall :) Here we are before running:

Addison enjoyed some good times with her friends, Emma and Taylor. They played together at the Sun Run...

...and we continued our tradition of eating Easter dinner at their house on Sunday after church. Here are the girls in their Easter dresses before their egg hunt.

During the hunt

We ended our time together with the girls jumping on the trampoline in their dresses.

Wondering where Jake was during all this?? Two days without a morning nap were rough on our little guy. He napped through all the fun.

I also somehow managed to overlook getting a family shot of us on Easter day. Maybe we'll all get dressed up again and "stage" an Easter picture :)
