Door County Vacation

A couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed a great vacation with some of my extended family. My mom and my sister and her family joined us at a lake house in Door County, Wisconsin. Our house was right on Lake Michigan on the Green Bay side. It was such a great time. Perfect weather, great company, beautiful surroundings...it was a good week.

We started out the week at my mom's house in Illinois. It was our last time there as she and my stepdad are now moving back to Kansas (yippee...more on that in a future post).
We swam in their pool and helped my mom with a garage sale.

After spending a weekend at my mom's house, we made the 5 hour drive to Door County, Wisconsin.
The weather was perfect the week we were there. While it was 100+ degrees at home, we enjoyed temperatures in the 70's and 80's. Everything was in bloom and gorgeous.

On our first day we explored Egg Harbor, WI a bit. We walked down to the marina and looked at the boats.

We also made a stop at the beach in Egg Harbor. The kids loved every minute. I've never seen Jake so giddy...it was great.

Addison loved it too. There were not many waves, so she played well in the water.

Being on the eastern shore of Green Bay, we were treated with amazing sunsets each night. Now that's vacation, watching gorgeous sunsets every night...lovely!

Miss Addison on "our" beach. Our rental house backed up to this rocky beach and Green Bay.

My beautiful sis and sweet Sammy, her youngest son. Isn't his grin precious?!?

On our second day, we decided to take a ferry to Washington Island. It's a small island just north of the Door County peninsula. The kids thought it was pretty cool riding the ferry boat.

After eating lunch at a sand dunes park, we went to the most popular beach on Washington Island, Schoolhouse Beach. It was a beautiful stone beach. It was hard for the kids to play...but it was gorgeous.

Another day we went to Peninsula State Park. There was a lighthouse, hiking trails, and a sandy beach. We decided to take the kids on an easy hike.

This trip was really a great time. The kids did so well playing together. The adults had a great time staying up late playing games. There is nothing like a whole week of time together.
Good stuff.

Needless to say, the kids were worn out!
