Calling All People Who Possess Color Sense!!!

We are in the process of painting our house. It has aluminum siding that has reached the "chalking" stage. It needed serious exterior help when we moved in 5 years ago. After pricing new siding, it became very clear that a paint job would have to do! Kyle has done the initial step of power-washing the siding. An obscene amount of the chalky paint came off in the process...which is fine, that's what the power-washing was supposed to do. We are now trying to choose paint colors. I like color. I have a red dining room...I'm not afraid of color. However, since we are talking about the outside of the house, granny smith apple green probably isn't the wisest choice. So, we are going with a neutral (read boring) color palette. I am pretty set on the main color being khaki. We just recently had new gutters put on, so the trim color will match the gutters which are a linen color. You can't get more neutral than khaki and linen...right?!? Here's the kicker, we're going to add some shutters to some of the windows...the front, one set on the side, and a couple in the back by our patio. So what color should the shutters be? Right now, I'm leaning in the sagey green direction (thought it would look nice with our red brick). I'm also pondering black...I think khaki, linen, and black is a very clean look.

Here's our house now:

Side view...notice all the bare siding...

Now here are the paint samples we picked up today from Sherwin Williams. Left to right: Pacer White (trim), Dried Thyme (shutter), Sands of Time (main color). This is in the shade. I think the Sands of Time looks a little pinky here. Maybe the Dried Thyme is too light...maybe I should go with a bolder green???

Here's the Sands of Time in the sunlight next to our brick archway. Definitely looks yellower in the sunlight.

Here's all three colors again in the shade. Obviously the actual window hasn't been painted yet. It still needs to be scraped and that is SOOOOO Kyle's job :)

So, please, give me your color advice!!! Is the Sands of Time too pinky...yellowy?? What about the Dried Thyme? Should I go with something darker?? What do you think about a black shutter??

I need help, people...winter's quickly approaching. Okay, maybe not...it was like 85 degrees today...but still, I can't live long with my house this way!!!

I think BLACK shutters would look great. I think the Thyme is too "cool" of a color next to the "warm" red in your bricks. I like the siding color!

Since I usually ask you for color advice, you most likely won't put much weight on my suggestion.....but here goes. Your roof color (appears to be brown with warm tones)and red brick colors go well together, so perhaps a warmer shade of green (if they make one and if you're set on green?), or I think black shutters would give a clean, crisp look. Adding green to the palette might be too much of a mix. I like your choice of siding color.

Will your window trim still be white? or off-white (linen)? maybe off-white shutters too?
Just a thought....

I say black shutters. It's timeless and classic.

The siding color looks really good as far as I can tell. That color with the brick and black shutters would look really good - crisp, clean, classic.
